Ambergate Carnival Site Goes Live
June 10th, 2008 by johnap
After a lot of work in a very short space of time, we are proud to announce the launch of the Ambergate Carnival website.
You can find it at http://www.ambergatecarnival.org.uk/The carnival has been going on for a long long time, and has, of course had it’s ups and downs. Last year things got really difficult, with the whole thing nearly being flooded out in the midst of last years truly horrendous weather. However, this year proves to be a something of a re-birth for the event. The organisers have managed to win lots of funding and sponsorship and have a huge range of events and attractions - a spectacular parade, local bands night, dancing people, dancing diggers, treasure hunt, quiz night, disco… the list goes on.
Our contribution to all of this is the website. We hope this will help publicise the event and serve as an ongoing resource for the village.
From the technical point of view, we used the excellent Python based Django web development framework - once again it’s simplicity, efficiency and elegance helped us to develop the site with ease and quickly without sacrificing quality. As well as the site code itself, we’ve made use of the built in admin framework that comes as part of Django, so the Carnival Committee can take change of the content themselves.
We recommend you come on down to Ambergate for what is shaping up to be a truly memorable carnival.
